Niklas Stoehr

PhD Student

ETH Zürich

Niklas is a doctoral student working on interpetability aspects of language models and probabilistic models. His research combines methods from Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Computational Social Science, and is particularly centered around active and passive mechanistic interpretability, latent (ordinal) scales, conflict and sentiment analysis. In 2023 and 2024, he spent time interning at Bloomberg in New York and Google in Mountain View. After completing a MSc in Data Science at UCL in 2020, he worked at the IBM AI Core Team, Microsoft Research Cambridge and the German Federal Foreign Office in Shanghai. During his BSc in Information Management Systems at TU Berlin, Niklas spent 6 months at the University of Oxford and 12 months at Tsinghua University in Beijing funded by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation / Studienstiftung.
